2026 Summer Drama Camps
Altoona Community Theatre is proud to offer a series of summer workshops for children and teens. These workshops help students build self-expression, self-confidence and communication skills through theatre games and improvisational activities. Students learn basic theatre terminology as well as the legacy behind the historic Mishler Theatre. The students also gain an understanding of the elements involved in staging a live theatrical production (from auditions to performance) by preparing a short play for family and friends.
All classes are conducted at ACT’s rehearsal hall at 1213 12th Street (next to Tom and Joe’s Diner and around the corner from the Mishler Theatre).
The two-week classes for Grades 3 and up are $165. The one-week classes for Kindergarten through 2nd grade are $95.
NEW: Our C-1 Camp for 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th graders has been updated!
C-1: Advanced Acting for Teens is designed for teenage performers who are eager to take their acting skills to the next level. Most students have had previous experience with summer drama camps or school/community theatre productions, so we are adding some more intensive work to our C camp curriculum.
In this camp, you’ll dive deep into scene and script analysis, character study, physical and vocal techniques, and preparation for future auditions. We will use demonstrations, monologues, improvisational scenes, short partner scenes and various acting exercises to develop new confidence and skills.
We’ll be working with you to take your acting to the next level, as well as deepen your understanding of theatrical arts. At the end of the two weeks, we’ll present a variety of scenes and selections to showcase your work for friends and family.
