This Zoom webinar provides a comprehensive overview of ancient Greek theatre and the culture that produced it.
We begin in the late Bronze Age and end at closure of the Classical Period in 323 BCE. Topics include Greek theology, the Dionysian festivals, the theatre venues, “Aristotle’s Poetics,” and the works of the four major ancient Greek playwrights are examined.
This offering is a must for any student planning to study theatre in college, or for thespians of any age who want to bone up on their theatre knowledge.
