by Mark Landon Smith

November 14, 15, 16 at 7:30
November 17 at 2 PM

Directed by Sam Wagner

This is NOT your traditional “Christmas Carol!” When a rag-tag theatrical touring company stages their 15th annual farewell performance of “A Christmas Carol,” nothing goes right. All the characters in Dickens’ story are there, but only seven actors play them. Mayhem ensues as these “seasoned professionals” scramble to keep the show going. But everything that can go wrong does go wrong to hilarious, ridiculous results!
This show celebrates the Dickens classic but with a bit of a twist. If you love the original but would like to see something a little different this holiday season, this is the show for you!

Much Ado About Nothing

by William Shakespeare

Directed by Tom Liszka

Love is in the air as two of Shakespeare’s most tumultuous couples— Beatrice and Benedick, and Claudio and Hero—volley hilarious quips and damning accusations back and forth. For Beatrice and Benedick, wit is a full-contact sport, and each is happy to throw some elbows. But wethinks they doth protest too much. Sometimes a stubborn soul needs that proverbial kick in the pantaloons to get out of their own way.
Will the truth win in this mischievous game of love? Romance, wit, false accusations, mistaken identities, and a cunning villain fuel this beloved classic with a central couple that set the standard for today’s rom coms.

Into the Woods

Music & Lyrics by STEPHEN SONDHEIM
Book by JAMES LAPINE

Directed by Jonathan O’Harrow

May 2, 3, & 4 at 7:30 PM
& May 5 at 2:00 PM

This haunting and humorous musical is a mash-up, fractured fairy tale that includes Cinderella, Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (of beanstalk fame) along with a pair of handsome but shallow Princes.  When all their stories, and the stories of other fairy tale characters, lead into the woods and become intertwined, dreams come true, and wishes are granted.  But “happily ever after” eludes them as they learn the tangled consequences of getting what you wished for.

Winner of multiple Tony Awards including Best Musical (1988) and Best Revival of a Musical (2002), it was made into a hit movie in 2014 starring Meryl Streep as the witch.

The show runs approximately 2 hours and 50 minutes, including a 15 minute intermission. Theatrical haze and occasional flashing lights will be used.
Spiritz Lounge & the Mishler Box Office open one hour prior to show time. House opens 30 minutes prior to show time.

Mystery and madness loom in the air in this classic Victorian thriller.  Strange things have been happening in the Manningham household: items go missing, their dog is injured, and Mrs. Manningham hears footsteps coming from the locked, uninhabited top floor.  She fears that she is going mad–that is certainly what Mr. Manningham believes.  But when Detective Rough arrives one night to visit Mrs. Manningham while she is alone, questions arise and secrets are revealed.

First performed in 1939, this play is relevant today since it is the origin of the term “gaslighting” which Merriam-Webster named their “word of the year” for 2022.

Recommended for mature audiences. This show contains scenes of domestic violence that may be sensitive for some viewers.
Please call the ACT Office at 814-943-4357 if you have any questions about show content.

Approximate run time for the performance is two and a half hours, including one 15 minute intermission.

With a high stakes battle between good and evil along with high energy music and dancing, “Matilda” will rock the Mishler Theatre.
