COVID-19 case numbers are rising, but, as the saying goes, “the show must go on”. In order to ensure the safety of its volunteers, Altoona Community Theatre’s Board of Directors has decided to require COVID-19 vaccinations for all cast and crew of its February’s production “The Great Gatsby”.

“I think it’s a smart and safe decision, and I fully support it,” says director Alice Lyn Oswald. “Auditions for the show are right after Thanksgiving and the start of Hanukkah, then we start rehearsals around Christmas and the new year. Requiring vaccines is going to greatly reduce the chance of passing infection between our cast and crew and their holiday gatherings. Not to mention, we want everyone to stay safe and healthy through the rest of winter to guarantee the show can perform without trouble.”

Auditions for “The Great Gatsby” are on November 28 & 29 from 6 to 9 PM in the ACT Rehearsal Hall. Proof of vaccination will be asked for at auditions. Masks are also highly encouraged despite vaccination status.
